Fetish carvings have traditionally worked as empowerment talismans for members of the Zuni Tribe. A hunter would possess a carving of his clan's representative animal and the spirit of the animal would assist him on the hunt. Nowadays the tribe sells fetishes to the outside world, to engender empowerment or simply to provide a beloved collectible or, in many cases, a highly valued collection.
