Shalako Jewelry by David Rosales
Every year the Zuni of New Mexico hold their
Shalako dance festival at the time of the Winter Solstice. The purpose
of Shalako is to thank the Zuni gods for the year’s harvest. Jewelry
designer David Rosales borrowed this imagery for his Shalako jewelry.
His all Native American crew specialize in blending cool Fall/Winter
colors in exquisite inlay and silver work. The sugilite, turquoise and
laboratory grown opal inlay may represent the Southwestern skyline late
in the Zuni’s year or it may represent the sky and ocean of the Big Sur
coast. You can decide!
