Goph Albitz’s professional jewelry career began with his selling handmade jewelry at Joan Baez concerts at Eselen Institute in Big Sur in the late 1960’s. His long standing association with the Phoenix Shop at Nepenthe began in the late summer of 1969. For many years Goph maintained studios in Big Sur before eventually moving to his own “designer showroom” in Carmel. The thread running through his design work was epitomized by exquisite stone inlays set in precious metals. In 1997 Goph moved his studio to Bend, Oregon and started producing his highly acclaimed one of a kind “Simply Cool” series, sterling and high karat mixed metal band rings and cuff bracelets with sprinkled diamonds and dramatically highlighted gemstones. The aptly named “Simply Cool” series has brought Goph critical recognition across the United States and abroad.
